Privacy Policy – Hamster Soup Forever
This policy applies to the Hamster Soup Forever mobile app (by Mutant Soup) on iOS and Android. The app does not require you to create an account. It describes how we handle information when you use the app.
1. Information we collect and use
- Usage and analytics. We use PostHog for product analytics on iOS and Android in releases built with analytics enabled (including typical App Store and Google Play builds). PostHog receives information about how you use the app—such as screens you view, in-app actions (for example navigation, settings, purchases you start, or interactions with profiles and summaries), your app language, and platform—along with identifiers PostHog assigns for analytics. PostHog may infer approximate location (such as city or region) from your IP address. We do not send PostHog the text of your feeds, articles, or AI-generated summaries. Analytics are processed under PostHog’s privacy policy and your device privacy choices where applicable. Local or test builds without a configured analytics key do not send analytics data.
- Crash and stability data. Depending on your device and settings, your platform provider (Apple or Google) may offer optional crash reporting or app stability diagnostics. We may receive anonymized crash or stability information through those channels when you choose to share it or when the store provides aggregated diagnostics under its policies. We do not operate a separate in-app crash reporting service in every release.
- Push notifications. If you enable notifications, we use the push notification services your platform provides to send you updates (such as feed or summary alerts) for that purpose.
- Preferences and data on your device. Settings, feed caches, AI summaries, and similar data stay on your device. We do not upload your preferences to our servers.
- In-app purchases. When purchases or subscriptions are offered, they are handled by the app store on your device (Apple App Store or Google Play). We do not store your payment details; we receive only what the store needs to confirm a purchase or restore access so the app can unlock features. Some releases do not offer in-app purchases.
- Cloud and sync. On Apple devices, the app may use Apple cloud services (including iCloud and CloudKit) to support features and to refresh when remote data changes, subject to Apple’s policies and your Apple ID settings where applicable. On all supported platforms, the app may read publicly available Big Brother profile and related metadata hosted in Apple’s CloudKit without requiring you to sign in with an Apple ID.
2. Content from other sources
The app shows content from third-party websites (for example, show news, live feeds, and houseguest information). We do not treat that material as personal data about you; it is displayed inside the app. When you open an article or stream in the in-app browser, that publisher’s site may process your network address, cookies, and other information under its own policies. Mutant Soup does not control those sites. Some summaries use the on-device AI features described in the next section.
3. AI features
Certain features use on-device intelligence provided by your device’s operating system on supported hardware (for example, summaries or recaps). They run on your phone or tablet—nothing you provide to those features, and nothing they produce, is sent to our servers or to a cloud AI service for that processing. Processing is designed to be efficient and to have a light impact on battery during typical use. See our AI Policy for more detail.
4. Third-party services
- PostHog – product analytics on iOS and Android (hosted in the United States). See PostHog Privacy.
- Apple – App Store purchases, push notifications, iCloud and CloudKit (including public content), and related services on Apple devices. Governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your device settings.
- Google – Google Play purchases, on-device AI services on Android where applicable, and Play-related stability reporting. Governed by Google’s privacy policy and your device settings.
5. Data storage and security
We rely on industry-standard practices and the security of the third-party services above. Information kept on your device stays on your device. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Your choices
- You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
- You can limit or reset advertising and analytics through your device’s privacy and advertising settings. Product analytics through PostHog may still occur in store builds as described above.
- In-app purchase and subscription data is managed through your App Store or Google Play account and device settings.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date below will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
